Hopewell Plantation is as old as English colonisation of Barbados and is sited on the 1721 Mayo map of the island since 1978 and was a sugar producing plantation until 2004. The sugar cane fields have since been cultivated for hay and the once busy plantation yard is being redeveloped in its colonial style while being transformed into a period retail complex with character
The plantation is located in the parish of St. Thomas adjacent to Highway 2. It is easily accessible from all corners of the island. The elevation offers incredible scenery and views to the south right down to Carlisle Bay and Bridgetown.
Hopewell plantation Country Store would offer fresh meat, bread and produce at better prices than local supermarkets in a pleasant historical environment. The facility will offer a Butcher shop, Bakery, Delicatessen, Craft Store,Liquor Store, Book store, Antiques shop/ There is also a 3 acre greenhouse aquaculture operation in progress where fresh organic vegetables will be grown.
